Fleetdown Community Centre has been run by residents for 27 years in June 2019. We initially had a 5 year lease and following that a 25 year lease was negotiated.
When the first lease was granted the centre celebrated by holding a lunch. Guests of honour were Bob Dunn MP and Mrs Sheila Wakeman.
Before the Centre was run by residents, it was used by many community groups. Playschool, Six to Eight Club, Fleetdown Strolling Players, Brownies and many others. This was the main reason the residents wanted to take up the chance of having the centre as their own. It has proven to be the right decision. Even surviving the storm that took the roof off and closed the building a few years ago. Fleetdown Community Centre, is now in a good place, dedicated committee, committed User Groups and many commercial hirers.
